Some friends and I wanted to try Slater’s 50/50 in Pasadena for their half bacon, half ground beef burger patties! The restaurant is located on the northwest corner of Raymond Ave and Union. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but the service was good, and it’s a fun place to eat at. You can either order one of their designed burgers or customize your own! Each burger patty is weighed after it’s cooked, and it comes as 1/3 lb, 2/3 lb, or a full pound. They also have fries with bacon ketchup, sweet potato fries with pumpkin sauce, fried dill pickle chips with original mustard sauce, beer battered onion rings with house-made bbq sauce, beer battered jalapenos with cilantro-lime sour cream, and fried bacon mac n’ cheese balls with Tapatio ranch! The sides range from $4.45-$5.95 each, but you can create your own combination plate with 2, 3, 4, 5, or all of the items. We got two combination orders of all the sides except for the fried dill pickle chips. A mix-up gave us the pickle chips instead of the regular fries, but we still got the fries!
The 50/50 for $9.95- This is the “basic” 50/50 burger! It comes with a sunny side up egg, avocado mash, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle adobo mayo on a white brioche. A friend and I got a 2/3 lb patty and split the burger, and it was just enough. The patty is saltier from the bacon. It is a delicious and moist burger.
