So there’s a Daikokuya in Arcadia now! It’s located inside the food court in the 99 Ranch Market plaza on Golden West and Duarte. Unlike other locations, this location closes at 9 pm. There was only one cashier working at the counter, so we had to wait for a while before we could order. A friend and I came here for dinner, and we both ordered the Kotteri Daikokuya Ramen bowls with a side of takoyaki!
Takoyaki for $4.95- Takoyaki is “grilled octopus,” and this bowl came with 8 pieces! Each takoyaki is made with pieces of octopus rolled into a dough ball, fried, and topped with green onions, mayo, and a sweet sauce!
Daikokuya’s ramen soup is tonkotsu (pork bones) soup with their secret blended soy sauce, chijire style egg noodles, kurobuta pork belly chashu, marinated boiled egg, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green onions, and sprinkle of sesame seeds for $7.50! They also serve a half bowl portion for $4.95. Kotteri-style ramen soup includes the soup extract from the back fat, so it’s a lot richer. I think this particular bowl had too much of the back fat, and I could see all the fatty pieces in the soup. After a while, I couldn’t drink the soup anymore.
