Charlie’s Trio is in downtown Alhambra on Main Street and First Street. It’s a cozy Italian-American resturant that serves pizza, pasta, chicken, ribs, and sandwiches.
Bread! This bread is delicious and served warm with oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping.
Mussels & Clams Santa Lucia- Fresh clams and mussels, tomato broth, garlic, and a touch of crushed pepper over linguini!
Pasta Pasquali- Sautéed chicken, mushrooms, capicolla, sun dried tomatoes, and olives in a crushed pepper stock sauce over fettuccini!
Southwest Pasta- Grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes, blue corn tortilla, Anaheim peppers, cilantro, and corn in a creamy garlic sauce over penne pasta! Ordering at Italian restaurants is a little harder for me because I don’t like cheese or cheesy creamy sauces. I wanted to have the flavors of the southwest pasta but without the sauce, so I substituted the garlic sauce with the tomato red wine sauce that’s used for the sausage and peppers pasta dish. It was good, but the tomato red wine sauce didn’t go too well with the penne pasta. Penne pasta is best with more robust sauces.
