Mahan is a little Indian restaurant located on Main Street between First St. and Second St. They have a lunch buffet from Monday through Saturday for $8.99. I’ve heard about the lunch buffet here before, but I never got to try it until now. The buffet here isn’t overwhelming, so you can definitely try a little (or a lot) of everything!
From the top middle going clockwise: Tandoori chicken, vegetable samosa, Basmati rice, Bengan Bhartha (eggplant), Chicken Makhani, potatoes and bell peppers, and salad with tamarind chutney.
Not pictured: Naan, salad with mint chutney, salad with raita (yogurt dressing with onions and cucumbers), and Palak Paneer (spinach and Indian cottage cheese cooked in spices)
I tried everything except the Palak Paneer. All the dishes were really flavorful and delicious, but the Bengan Bhartha was more on the salty side. Both the mint and tamarind chutneys tasted great with the salad.
Tandoori chicken- marinated in yogurt, garlic, ginger, and spices and cooked in tandoor
Vegetable samosa- deep-fried crisped turnovers stuffed with spiced potatoes and peas
Bengan Bhartha- eggplant roasted in tandoor and cooked with onions, tomatoes, and spices
Chicken Makhani- shredded chicken cooked in tomato yogurt sauce and spices with a touch of butter
Kheer- Rice pudding! This rice pudding has a milky flavor. I didn’t like it that much, but that’s because I don’t like milky flavors.
