Shaker’s is a classier version of Denny’s! It’s located on Central just north of the 134 freeway in Glendale. The clientele is mostly older Caucasians. It seems like all the American family restaurants (Coco’s, Marie Callender’s, Denny’s, and IHOP) cater to this demographic. Don’t young adults like dishes like pot roast and meat loaf too?
Chicken Romaine Salad (Small for $8.00) – White meat chicken and crisp Romaine with toasted almonds, raisins and bacon tossed in a special curry dressing. I usually don’t order salad (I was considering the meat loaf or the pot roast), but the “special curry dressing” drew in my attention at the last minute and I changed my order. I really liked it, and the salad was dressed with just enough dressing.
Napa Salad (Small for $8.00) – Mixed greens, apples, raisins, grapes and toasted almonds tossed in a zesty ginger-lime vinaigrette, topped with a julienne grilled chicken breast.
Zucchini Bread! Each salad comes with a choice of garlic toast or zucchini bread. It tasted good, but I would have liked it better if it was served warm.
